Roslea • Introduction
Roslea is a large village at the eastern edge of Fermanagh, located very close to the border with Monaghan. The village is built on the Finn River and surrounded by small natural lakes, with bountiful supplies of trout and freshwater fish. The village has recently benefited from the establishment of a community controlled Heritage Centre which is an excellent source of information for any visitor to the area.
The village itself is centered around two crossroads and home to an overwhelmingly rural population and surrounded by some wonderful scenery, with Rosslea Forest providing some excellent walks and local studies to the south of the village. Possibly of greater interest to some visitors, the village also houses a range of pubs with good food and drink. Killyfoyle Lake A community developed lake site on the B36 Donagh to Roslea Road with a circular walk around the lake and fishing facilities.
Roslea Heritage Centre Roslea Heritage Centre is within an old school house built in 1874. The Heritage Centre has displays of traditional farming tools, local crafts and a genealogy service.

Walking in the Knockatallon area
Knockatallon Development Committee is a member of the Sliabh Beagh Cross Border Partnership which is made up of 11 community groups north and south of the border. All of the groups have identified and way marked walks and four Knockatallon Walks are described briefly below. (There are brochure's available). For the dedicated walker 'The Sliabh Beagh Way' is a 25 mile moor land walk across three counties. Starting in Augher in Co. Tyrone it passes close to Knockatallon on its way to Donagh, Co. Fermanagh. For more information contact the Sliabh Beagh Tourism Centre.
Rock Walk (6.5km Road Walk) The Rock Walk is a circular road walk through beautiful unspoilt countryside and upland blanket bog. Wild flowers blooming amid a variety of natural grasses, ferns and brambles gladden the eye while the background sounds of nature provide a relaxing aural backdrop.
Eshcloghfin Walk (9km Forest Walk) This off road walk winds its way through forestry tracks between 600' and 1,000' above sea level and provides breathtaking views. Recent felling of forestry trees have opened up the area affording even more spectacular scenery.
Tra Walk (10km Mountain Walk) You will feel on top of the world as you enjoy the panoramic views spread out before you. On a clear day fourteen counties are visible from this walk. It takes its name from a landmark feature, namely Antrawer Lough, and offers a variety of surfaces including moor land and forestry tracks.
Stramacilroy Walk (4.5kn Road Walk) A short but invigorating circular road walk, passing through hilly farmland and unspoilt countryside, where the sights and sounds of nature will soothe the senses. However if you venture this way after dark be warned: the ghost of raparee, Sean Bearna, stalks through the heather and may even been seen silhouetted against the night sky!!
