The Clones Erne East Schools Folklore Project is a collection of stories from over 400 children from 27 schools in the CEEP area. The collection period ran from 2006 to 2007. Over twelve hundred submissions (many students wrote on more than one topic) were handwritten into ordinary copybooks. Some of the students did not wish their details to be made public so in these cases their names and addresses have been blocked out.
The children interviewed older members of their family or community resulting in this web-book that gives access to everyone to learn about how life was in the area before, during and after the troubles. This collection allows us to celebrate and explore our diverse history and learn more about our communities. Clogher Historical Society delivered this Project on behalf of CEEP.
The project collected reminiscences on the following topics:
• Living along the border
• Migration and emigration
• Famous local people
• How do you spend your Sunday?
• Farming
• Local words and phrases
• Place-names and field names
• My school
• A Day in my Life 2007
